The foundation for my exhibition work is in embroidery and related techniques. Starting points are usually drawings of land and seascapes. Working from my studio in the West Coast of Scotland, the sea has a great influence on my work. Holidays in the south of France are also reflected in my textile pieces.

Some of the work includes hand dyed, unspun silk, which is made into felt/Paper. This is then used as a ground to work into and onto, with hand and machine stitchery, fabric paints, papers and found objects. Fabrics, velvets, silks and cottons are hand dyed and manipulated by stitchery to create interesting textures and patterns. Work varies in size from smallish, framed pieces to large wall pieces.
